No, the United States Patent and Trademark Office does not require trademark applicants to be represented by an attorney.  However, if the nature of the filing becomes complex, we have staff attorneys on retainer who specialize in trademark law to advise on legal issues. 

Currently, the base cost of filing a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is between $350 and $550 for each class of good or service.  The agency costs are separate and in addition to Lynn IP's consulting fees. 

The ownership rights to a registered trademark are perpetual as long as the proper maintenance filings are timely submitted with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Currently, the fee to renew and keep a registration alive is $325.
